Best broadband in Manila

Globe wireless broadband - terrible connection
Globe wireless broadband - terrible connection

While searching for the best isp's for my budget I found a few that are capable but most of them does a slightly awful service than expected ... here they are:

- Globe wireless broadband: It features a 512kbps connection + a phone line, the phone works okay but the internet connection is reliant to the visibility of their modem from the other side of our street. This means that if a tree or some object blocks the view we will lose internet connection.. and if a storm comes in we should expect a disconnection. After the install we've experienced speeds similar to a dial up, we terminated our account the next day. It's strange we got a horrible connection.. we heard good things from globe, it's probably their wired connection that is the best. Wireless is not that reliable.

- Zpdee cable internet: I tried this one about a year ago and I have to say that they do a really great job maintaining it. The speeds are as advertised and disconnections are rare. The tech support staff are knowledgeable too. The new packages boasts added speed & discounts to their cable tv.

- PLDT MyDSL: At first this one provided me a very good connection, the staff were friendly and then somehow after a few months of use the call center turned from 'ok' to horrible. None of the tech support knows what they are doing and almost *always* will be letting you wait day after day .. and even weeks. I cancelled this connection and suffered a 3-month fee, they now lost a customer .. I won't go back until they've improved their agents.

- SmartBro: Similar to globe wireless it is reliant to some kind of canopy that should be visible to one of their base stations, lucky for us the canopy is visible right across the street from their unit or modem or whatever. That should guarantee a very stable connection but so far I've been getting lower speeds than what I've experienced back in the inner circle paranaque. I was advised to wait 24 hours for it to be stable after it's installation.. so far it's picking up. Their technical support *acts* knowledgeable so be wary of questionable replies. Their tech support can be contacted by cellphone, which is good.

To summarize all this:
- The best connection and support I've experienced? Zpdee.
- Worst customer support? PLDT dsl
- Quality varies on? Globe & Smartbro (if you are in a good area you may be in luck, if not then terminate your account immediately!)
- Get a wired account, stay clear of wireless
